This will be the cover of the upcoming publication of The Wet Nurse from publisher Strange Aeons- My deviant friends may remember a few samples from the story I've had posted for years here. Look for it Spring 2012- quality edition printed in huge treasury addition size!

This painting is new and features a different take on the wet nurse concept then the actual story with-in, which is an older, previously unpublished work.

Working title for this illo is "Nursing In Public"

What I enjoyed aboput this piece was the domestic setting for such fantastical creatures! It makes the subject matter far more startling. And of course, your rendering and use of colors is lovely :) What do you use, Gouache?

Thank you, yes, it's mostly gouache, some ink, and a little colored pencil :)

Oh wow, awesomeness! :) You made those fantastic creatures very believable and behaving in what seems to be a very natural for their world. Creepy and beautiful in a strange way.

You might say that's what they were conceived to do :)

Ha! They sure were. Seriously, they remind me all too much of the nightmare birth scene from Cronenberg's 'The Fly' and I'm a bit of a larvaphobe.
